Basically my teacher likes surrealist art. So we did a topic on surrealism and dadaism from like the 1930s to 50s which includes artists like Hannah Hoch, John Heartfield, Man Ray and Raoul Hausmann, all very political stuff really. Check it out if you get a chance though it's pretty cool.... anyway yeh so I decided to pick someone more modern, so I went with *drum roll* Jerry Uelsmann
heres a link to his site: [link] very good stuff you really SHOULD check this stuff out. Lots of fantasy stuff which makes me bounce around with excitement. He uses a lot of little people, black and white, and his images usually have an ingrained message. The only thing is he uses combination printing instead of photoshop which is what I used. Combination printing at it's easiest usually includes several enlargers at a time and I don't think other students would appreciate it if I hogged the enlargers at school so yeh computers are way easier and the way of the future but I have missed being in the dark room.
Anyway so yeh, the message of my pieces are generally environmental ones, rubbish is bad, waste in cities is harmful to the inhabitants that kinda thing. You'd probably understand if you looked at the photos. They are meant to be thought provoking, so I hope the provoked some thoughts at least XD
Hope you enjoy them!!!!
